spain hotels cheap

I want to plan a trip to Madrid and smaller villages around Madrid. Could anyone must see places in Spain?
This is planning for my honeymoon for early 2009. We would like to explore village and untouched places in Spain. I would appreciate if i could get information on cheap to medium accomodation. Which is cleaner and cheaper to stay in hostels, hotels or villas/ apartments? Thank You.
I have made I similar trip. I recommend you get a book called “The Companion Guide to Madrid and Central Spain” by Alastair Boyd. This book has very detailed information on “excursions” around Madrid. http://www.companionguides.com/titlepgs/00639378a.htm
I have stayed in hostels, Hotels and Paradors (national Hotel). Hostels can be very clean, they just don’t have many amenities. They can be a very good deal — around $50 or so a night. Hotels go from one star to five stars, the one stars can be very reasonable and are fine. Paradors are more $150 – $200 but are very unique and you should stay in a least one.
This website has great info (the book is worth getting also.

There are a couple of great Paradors near Madrid that I stayed at. They are not outrageously expensive.
The Parador at Alarcon is in an extremely romantic setting — A 13th Century Castle, only a few rooms. Great for a Honeymoon.
Also, the Parador at Siguenza is a very Big Castle in a very nice little Village.
The Posada de San Jose in Cuenca is a great little place in one of the “Hanging Houses” and is very reasonable.
